ABOUT
Karen G. Campbell is an internationally respected strategist in global development, with over two decades of field-based experience spanning the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. She has partnered with government bodies, NGOs, and private sector leaders to design and implement initiatives that tackle the root causes of economic, social, and political unrest leading to conflict, extremism and disenfranchisement. Her work has taken her to the front lines of some of the most consequential geopolitical events in recent history, including – the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict; the transition to democracy in Burma/Myanmar in 2012; violent extremism in the Horn of Africa; the COVID-19 pandemic; the return to Taliban rule in Afghanistan in 2021; and most recently, the Israel-Hamas War. She has also undertaken assignments in Pakistan, Somalia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Cuba.
For the past thirty years, she has served as President & CEO of Metropolitan Consulting Corporation (MCC) and is recognized for her leadership in implementing large-scale global projects in complex operating environments, often characterized by extreme security risks. Ms. Campbell has led the development, management and leveraging of grant and accelerator portfolios often exceeding $250M, and regularly speaks at universities, business roundtables, and global industry forums. She brings a global lens to meaningful, impactful private sector philanthropy and has recently expanded her work into geopolitical commentary and storytelling to reframe global affairs and push back on conventional narratives.
Ms. Campbell currently resides in Washington, D.C., and Cape Town, South Africa.
